Who we are

Work As Intended LLC is a consultancy based in South Lake Tahoe, California. We provide technology and administration consulting to small businesses. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Work As Intended LLC.

If you have any question about this policy or about information we hold, email us at info@workasintended.com.

What we collect

We collect very little.

When you contact us. Your name, email address, and anything you choose to tell us in your message. If we go on to work together, we also hold the contact and billing details needed to run the engagement.

When you book a call. We use Cal.com to schedule introductory calls. When you book, you give Cal.com your name, email address and time zone, along with anything you write in the booking form. Cal.com passes that to us and adds the appointment to our calendar. Cal.com has its own privacy policy covering what it does with that information. Calls are held on Zoom, which receives the details needed to run the meeting.

When you visit the site. We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand how the site is used. Umami does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, and does not follow you to other websites. It records anonymous, aggregated information only: the pages viewed, the referring site, approximate country, and general device, browser and screen-size type. Your IP address is used to derive that approximate location and is not stored. None of this identifies you, and we cannot link it to you as an individual. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect payment details here.

Opting out of analytics. You can switch analytics off at any time. Turn on "Do Not Track" in your browser settings, or use a browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts — Umami respects both, and the site works exactly the same either way. If you would like us to remove any data associated with your visits, email info@workasintended.com.

We do not buy personal information from anyone, and we do not sell yours.

Why we collect it, and our lawful basis

We use your information to reply to you, to deliver the work you have hired us for, to send invoices, and to meet our tax and legal obligations.

Where data protection law requires us to name a lawful basis, ours are:

  • performance of a contract, for work we are delivering
  • consent, where you have asked us to contact you
  • legal obligation, for tax and accounting records
  • legitimate interest, in running and administering our own business

We will not add you to a marketing list without asking first, and we will not share your details with anyone else for their marketing.

Who else handles your data

We use third-party services to run our business, and your information passes through some of them. The categories are:

  • website hosting and content delivery
  • email and document storage
  • our project and client management system
  • accounting software and our accountants, for tax filings

The providers we use are:

  • Cal.com, for booking calls
  • Umami, for cookieless, anonymous website analytics
  • Zoom, for the video calls themselves
  • Google Workspace, for email, calendar and documents
  • Notion, for managing projects and client records
  • Xero, for invoicing and accounting
  • Lovable, for hosting this website

Our accountants also see billing records where they need them to prepare and file our tax returns.

We share information with these providers only so they can perform their function. We do not give your data to anyone else without asking you first, and the only exception is where the law requires us to.

Where your data goes

We work remotely. Your data syncs to the equipment we work from, which is usually in the United States and may at times be elsewhere, including the United Kingdom and Australia. Some of these locations are outside the areas that the UK and EU recognise as providing equivalent data protection.

Our providers store data on cloud infrastructure that may also sit outside your country.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we are working together, and afterwards for as long as we are required to for tax and legal purposes. After that we delete it.

Data we hold for clients

When we build or run systems for a client, we sometimes handle personal information belonging to that client's own customers or staff. In those cases the client decides what happens to that data and we act on their instructions. If you believe we hold information about you through one of our clients, contact the client in the first instance, or contact us and we will pass the request on.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets a small number of cookies that are necessary for it to work, such as keeping track of your session. It does not use cookies to advertise to you or to follow you across other websites, and nothing on the page is loaded from an advertising network.

If you open the booking tool, Cal.com sets a small number of cookies of its own. These keep your booking session working and protect against automated abuse. They are not used for advertising.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. Our analytics tool, Umami, honours it: if the signal is on, no analytics data is collected from your visit. We do not track visitors across websites at all.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the information we hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete information we no longer need to keep
  • stop contacting you

Email info@workasintended.com and we will respond within one month. There is no charge for this.

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We review this policy from time to time. Any changes appear on this page, and we update the date at the top when they do.
